Description
On 12 June 1817, Karl von Drais travelled on his self-designed velocipede from Mannheim to Schwetzingen and back. With this, he laid the foundations for subsequent horseless carriages and thus speedier transport. It was another fifty years before the bicycle finally established itself around the world.
