Description
Under the prince electors Carl Philipp and Carl Theodor, the palatinate saw an unparalleled blossoming of courtly music. Mannheim, and with that Schwetzingen, became one of the leading centres of music in Europe between 1747 and 1778. Music historians refer to the composers of this era as the “Mannheim School”.
